Burley Primary School

January 2021 - School Closure

Update- 4th January 2021

With the government's new national lock down announcement this evening - that all schools will close for most pupils from tomorrow and that remote learning will take place for all other children until February Half term, in order for school to open there is considerable work that needs to take place in order for us to open safely and provide your children with remote learning.

With this in mind, we have taken the very difficult decision to close both schools tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January, as an emergency planning day to enable adequate time to update procedures and risk assessments, organise the opening of school for Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children as well as getting remote learning for all up and running.

Remote learning will begin on Wednesday 6th January and more details about this will be sent tomorrow. The Federation will return to operating from the Burley site and ONLY for children of Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children. This was highly successful last time.

As this is such short notice, and I understand that for Critical Workers a closure tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January, is problematic we will allow children of critical workers who have no alternative childcare at home to come into school on the Burley site tomorrow. The Sopley site will be closed. Please arrive at Burley school for 8.40am.

If you are a critical worker and do not need urgent childcare tomorrow, I request you keep your children at home. A survey will be sent to you first thing that will allow you to request a place from Wednesday 6th January which will need to be returned by 1pm tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January, to secure your place. The office staff will contact you directly to inform you of your place and find out what days you require.

As always, our priority is to keep everyone safe during these very anxious times and I know that you all fully support the two schools during such challenging times. Please be patient with us whilst we get school for some children and remote learning for all up and running as quickly as we can.
