Governance at The Federation of Burley and Sopley Primary Schools
Our governing body consists of 12 members with a good range of skills and experience. We aim to be a supportive as well as a critical friend to the school’s leadership.
The full governing body meets at least once each term, but most of our work is done in the following committees.
· Teaching, learning and the curriculum
· Safeguarding and compliance
· Resources and finance
· Executive head teacher’s performance management
Governors with named responsibilities (for example, safeguarding and special educational needs) visit the schools every term and complete a record of the visit as part of our monitoring. The committees meet at least termly and report to the full governing body, which has overall responsibility for the governance of both schools.
Governors attend many school events and are always happy to talk to parents. Alternatively, if you have questions or feedback, then you can contact the chair of governors through either school office. Please do note though, that if you have any specific issues regarding individual pupils or members of staff, these should be raised with the executive headteacher in the first instance.
