Years 5 and 6

We are Woodpeckers class, a mixed age Year 5 & 6 class. Our teacher is Miss Goodall.

Every day, we challenge ourselves with a range of lessons in which we keep our Heart Values at the forefront of all we do. In the afternoons, we follow an adventure-based learning approach where we delve deeply into a range of foundation subjects, with our overarching question of the term driving our questioning and investigations. We are extremely lucky to be a small school in the heart of the New Forest and enjoy taking our learning outside whenever possible. We have wonderful outside spaces at Burley Primary School, such as our student garden and woodland area. 

In Woodpeckers, we strongly believe that retrieval is a vital part of our day. We know that bringing prior learning back into our working memory from our long-term memory helps us to build on our existing knowledge and learn more.
